Once I made a decision to import some lighting, I had some shipped by Sea freight, and others shipped by air

The thing that I’ve come to learn about importing, it’s not so much the price you pay to the manufacturer, it’s the shipping cost.

No matter how much due diligence you put into arranging your logistics, there will always be surprises.

I was working with DHL, but after repeatedly being charged extra fees for overweight, and insurance when they were specifically advised otherwise, I have since dropped them.

On the Sea freight side, there are way too many players from picking up the freight at the manufactures warehouse to port charges to sea charges to brokerage fees to Freight transfers and the list goes on and on.

There is one final thing that people should know while importing, that is if you plan to resell the product you are importing, you are the importer of record and you or your company will be personally liable for any recalls or damages.
